Detention Charts
How many people is ICE detaining and where?
All of the following charts are from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) case records that the good people at Deportation Data Project obtained via FOIA lawsuit.
This shows the national detained population between October 2022 and March 2026.
Below, I’ve organized the facility-by-facility detention facility population charts by state.1 There are 583 charts in total, one for each facility where ICE confined someone overnight. If you don’t see a chart that you might expect to be there, or if you think that the numbers for a specific facility are lower than you expected, it might be that ICE transfers people there during the day, but transfers them again to another location before midnight. The facilities counted here count as locations where ICE detained at least one person overnight since October 2022.
NOTE: Plots vary on the y-axis depending on the maximum detained population for each location.
